I have officially started on all of my classes for this semester. I feel great about it. I glad that I took five classes. Of the five, three are online and two are on campus. Here is a rundown of all five:
Spanish:
After intro yesterday, the teacher had us do a small sentence writing assignment and switch papers with someone to read theirs aloud to te class. The purpose of trading papers with a partner was to change verb tenses and reading out loud gave her a feel of how well (or not) we can speak. At the university of Houston, the Spanish classes are divided between heritage and non-heritage speakers. This is not only to prevent fluent people from taking it for an easy A, but the classes are taught differently. As adults, you will always have a different understanding of a foreign language if you heard it spoken in childhood.
When I went, the teacher thought I was a heritage speaker! Either my accent was just that good, or she was comparing me to the rest of the class who sounded like a bunch of hillbillies trying to speak Spanish. I had to explain that I am Greek lol. Once she believed me, she said "bravo".
Methods in research:
Scratch that about not having to do a paper this semester. The lab section of methods in research is to do a research paper. That should have been common sense. The lecture instructor is an old, boring, droning old man with a perverse, unfortunate last name. The lab instructor is really cool, funny, interesting and hot but unfortunately has a wedding band. The paper topic has to contain two variables at least, an at least one of these has to be psych related. For instance, the affect of coffee on mood. The variables are coffee and mood. Of course, I want to do something child related. Any suggestions? Comment below
Online, statistics:
I took the chapter one quiz last night. Got a good score. Now I know how the quizzes are so I can do even better
Online social psych: still waiting on the shipment of my textbook. Nothing posted there except the syllabus
Online cognitive psych: quizzes ae posted, but I haven't done any yet.
