Children at Risk was the organization I wanted to write about last week, but decided not to. Like Texans Care, they are a political action organization. However, they focus a lot more on public outreach than Texans Care does. One thing that I have really enjoyed from Children at Risk is their Monday afternoon radio show on KPFT 90.1 called "Growing Up in America."
Children at Risk is also the organization I traveled to Austin with about a year ago to participate in a group advocacy activity. They organized meetings with four different congresspeople per group to discuss Children at Risks's key issue areas for the last legislative session. That was so educational! Very different from reading about it in a book!
